Professional

Being born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA Benton has always had an innate curiosity in his surroundings and an appreciation for the outdoors. Following his interests in ecology, design, and history he found himself in the Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture at LSU. After graduating as the Dean’s Medal recipient with a bachelor of landscape architecture (BLA), he moved to Washington, D.C. to work with Oehme, van Sweden Associates on commercial, federal, and high-end residential projects. During his time in DC, Benton became a licensed landscape architect, worked on several dedicated multidisciplinary teams gaining experience in all phases of design, and assisted in designing the White House Rose Garden Renovation in August of 2020. As the director of design build, Benton’s role at Willow Grove is to take the vision of our clients and make them a reality while fostering a memorable and positive experience through the design process.

Personal

Hello! I am a native of Baton Rouge, LA and I am proud to have been raised in such a culturally and ecologically rich part of the United States. I am genuine, passionate and a perpetual learner with many interests that often overlap with my work in landscape architecture. In my spare time, I enjoy being active outdoors, traveling, spending time with my friends and family, and keeping busy with new hobbies. I believe humans have an instinctual longing to connect with nature and my goal is to provide access in functional and beautiful ways. Undoubtedly, having access to nature has a positive effect on the human psyche and enriches the quality of life. I look forward to making your vision become reality and creating outdoor spaces for you to enjoy with your family and friends.
