Mechanic

Position Overview

The Mechanic supports the operational efficiency of WillowGrove Landscape by maintaining and repairing small engines, service trucks, and select irrigation components. This role ensures that all equipment and vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations, minimizing downtime and maximizing crew productivity. As well as providing transportation to and from the off-site employee housing and making small repairs in the field.

Responsibilities

1. Small Engine Maintenance & Repair

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair small engines (mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.).
• Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, spark plugs, air filters, blades, etc.).
• Keep detailed service records of all small engine equipment.
• Identify and order replacement parts as needed.

2. Vehicle & Truck Maintenance

• Perform routine inspections, oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and minor repairs on landscape maintenance trucks.
• Coordinate with external service providers for major repairs.
• Ensure trucks are safe, road-ready, and compliant with company standards.
• Track and schedule vehicle service intervals.
• Transport employees to off-site housing when routes are completed throughout the day.

3. Minor Irrigation Repairs

• Assist with minor irrigation repairs (valves, irrigation clocks, spray head adjustments).
• Support irrigation crews with troubleshooting and small component replacement.
• Maintain inventory of commonly used irrigation parts.
• Irrigation experience is preferred but not required for this role, supplemental training available.

4. Shop & Equipment Organization

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Track inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure all equipment is stored properly and ready for field use.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company and industry safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and waste disposal regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions or equipment to leadership promptly.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience as a small engine or fleet mechanic.
• Basic knowledge of irrigation systems preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Applicant must be willing and physically able to assist maintenance or install crews in the field on an as needed basis.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
